The Protest e-book was just released on Amazon.com!
At a reading I did at a university in North Carolina, this Kafka quote was used to introduce my book:
“If the book we are reading does not wake us, as with a fist hammering on our skulls, then why do we read it? …What we must have are those books that come on us like ill fortune, like the death of one we love better than ourselves, like suicide. A book must be an ice axe to break the sea frozen inside us.”
Here are what others are saying about The Protest:
“The story’s character is so alive you can smell her perfume when she walks into a scene. This work is a diamond with many facets. Each sparkle is a reflection of the craft of the writer.” Louise Stamper, The Communicator
“A great story, beautifully written and full of understanding. It’s about experiencing and turning the experience into wisdom, about pain and conquering, joy and becoming.” Beyond the Ordinary, KRSE Radio
“First-time author questions fanatic faith in The Protest…This is a story where people are able to triumph over adversity. It is inspiring.” Christy Smith, The North Arkansas Times
“Bunnell’s characters captivate the reader, making the book a one-sit read.” Cindy Teixeira, Nisqually Valley News
“The Protest is an intensely involving, deftly written saga.” Chosen for “Reviewer’s Choice,” Midwest Book Review
“A compelling novel that has an important and potent message.” Ron Chapman, KUNM-FM
“The Protest, tells the timely tale of religion gone awry… Through inspired characters, rich dialogue, and unrelenting suspense, The Protest chronicles the lives of one family literally torn apart by “Christianity.” J. R. Bartley
“…her life was like a Picasso among Norman Rockwells,” “writing is simply another means for truth to escape, besides crawling out the hole it’s eaten in the author’s belly.” There are dozens of other wonderfully descriptive phrases in this book… The Protest is one of the most amazing books I’ve read in a long, long time. But this book is not just a collection of nimble, creative phrases. The story line is relentlessly compelling, with memorable characters and burning emotions that grab you by the throat and wrench your heart… Jan J.
Okay, that’s enough for now — but I will add that I hope my protest, in e-book form, is heard ’round the world.
Let me just add one more important call to action: If you find a book you love, the one thing you can do to help ensure its success: Write a short, honest review on Amazon.
Thank you so very much!
